I can transfer photos wirelessly from my Sony NEX-6 using Sony PlayMemories software, but I want them to end up in Adobe Lightroom instead. Can Lightroom import directly over Wi‑Fi from the camera, or is there a workaround? If so, how should it be set up?

If the NEX-6 appears as a camera/storage media via wifi to your compter system, then Lightroom can import from it. However, in the case that the NEX-6 does not appear as a standard system Lightroom knows about then you can use Lightroom's Auto Import feature to automatically import images from a folder that your Sony Play Memory program writes to. Simply use the Sony software to import the images to your computer, and have Lightroom watch that folder for new images. It will import them as usual, automatically. Configure Auto Import via File>Auto Import.

Usually not directly. If the NEX-6 connects over Wi‑Fi in a way that your computer sees it as normal camera/storage media, Lightroom can import from it. If it does not appear as a standard device Lightroom recognizes, use Sony PlayMemories to transfer the files to a folder on your computer, then have Lightroom automatically ingest them.

In Lightroom, set up Auto Import under File > Auto Import and point it to the folder that PlayMemories writes to. Lightroom will watch that folder and import new images as they arrive, giving you a practical Wi‑Fi workflow even if Lightroom cannot talk to the camera directly.
