I have a Nikon D3200 and several older Pentax M42 screw-mount lenses from a 35mm film camera. Is there an adapter that will let me use these lenses on the D3200, and are there any limitations I should expect?

Yes—M42-to-Nikon F adapters do exist, but there are important limitations on a Nikon DSLR like the D3200. Because Nikon F has a longer flange distance than M42, a simple mechanical adapter usually will not allow infinity focus; it works mainly for close-up or macro use. Some adapters include an optical correction element to restore infinity focus, but that can reduce image quality.
You should also expect fully manual operation: manual focus, and depending on the lens, manual aperture control. Metering and autofocus support are typically limited or unavailable on entry-level Nikon bodies.
So the short answer is: yes, you can adapt them, but it is not an ideal match if you want normal everyday use. They are most practical for experimentation or close-focus work unless you accept the trade-offs of an adapter with glass.
