Can Aperture delete only the RAW file from a RAW+JPEG pair?

I import photos into Aperture as RAW+JPEG pairs. For many images I only need the JPEG and would like to remove the RAW file to save disk space. Is there any way to delete just the RAW file from within Aperture without breaking the library or references?

Aperture treats the RAW file and the JPEG as a single composite master and won't let you do anything with them individually except create a new master from the JPEG. That new master can be deleted, but it doesn't buy you anything since the original RAW is still there with the JPEG file.
The RAW and JPEG images are treated as a single master. In a RAW+JPEG workflow, the two images are treated as a single master. If you have imported the images as referenced, avoid deleting either the RAW or JPEG from the Finder - Aperture will lose connection with the remaining master as well.(Source)
There are ways to delete the RAW files using finder, or terminal scripts, but none that use Aperture such as what your original question asked.

No. In Aperture, a RAW+JPEG import is treated as a single composite master, not as two separate files you can manage independently. Aperture does not provide a way to delete only the RAW portion of that pair.
You may be able to remove RAW files outside Aperture using Finder or scripts, but Aperture itself won’t do this, and deleting one file from a referenced pair can break Aperture’s connection to the remaining master. Creating a new master from the JPEG also doesn’t solve the problem, because the original RAW+JPEG master still remains.
So if your goal is to delete only the RAW files while keeping the JPEGs intact in Aperture, Aperture does not support that workflow safely from within the app.
