Can a Sunpak NE-i Nikon flash be triggered with a Flashpoint R2 receiver?

I use a Nikon D850 with other Flashpoint flashes, and I also have an older Sunpak NE-i that I previously used on a Nikon D200. Can the Sunpak NE-i be triggered off-camera with a Flashpoint R2 i-TTL 2.4G wireless receiver for Nikon flashes, and if so, would it be limited to manual firing or could TTL/features also work?

Provided the triggering voltage of the Sunpak NE-i does not exceed the capacity of the Flashpoint (Godox) receiver to tolerate voltage, it should work in any mode for which the flash is capable when used directly on the camera's hot shoe. With two different third party products from two different makers, should doesn't always happen, though. At the very least, you almost certainly could fire the flash in sync with the camera's shutter using manual power mode.

Probably yes for basic triggering, but compatibility is not guaranteed. If the Sunpak NE-i’s trigger voltage is within what the Flashpoint/Godox receiver can safely handle, it should fire when connected through the receiver. In mixed-brand setups like this, the most reliable expectation is simple sync firing in manual mode.
TTL and other dedicated hot-shoe features may or may not work, because you’re combining older third-party gear with a different brand’s radio system. Even if the receiver physically fits and the flash fires, full feature support is uncertain.
So the practical answer is: manual off-camera triggering is likely possible, but verify the flash’s trigger voltage first and don’t assume full Nikon TTL compatibility through the Flashpoint receiver.
