I can control my Canon EOS 750D over USB with EOS Utility. For projects like 3D scanning or multi-camera capture, can a computer control several cameras simultaneously instead of just one?

I’m interested in two things:

  1. Triggering multiple cameras at the same moment.
  2. If supported, changing settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO across all connected cameras, depending on the exposure mode (P/A/S/M).

Is this possible, and does it depend on the camera brand or software used?

Yes, it's possible, but not using EOS Utility. There are some software packages out there that can manage multiple cameras at once:

  • Breeze Systems offers products for triggering multiple cameras.

  • digicamControl is free, open source software that can manage multiple cameras.

  • Many radio triggers such as PocketWizards can be used to trigger cameras as well as flashes, and multiple triggers can be set to simultaneously trigger the cameras they're connected to.

Yes—multi-camera control is possible, but it usually requires specialized software or trigger hardware rather than the standard utility that comes with one camera.

For USB control, some applications are designed to manage multiple cameras at once, including tools such as Breeze Systems multi-camera software, digicamControl, Smart Shooter, and similar studio/capture programs. Support varies by camera model and brand, so mixed-brand setups may work only with software that explicitly supports them.

If your main goal is firing all cameras at the same instant, hardware triggers are often the simplest option. Radio triggers and dedicated trigger boxes can synchronize several cameras and can also be expanded for larger arrays.

Changing aperture, shutter speed, and ISO across all cameras is possible only when the cameras and the chosen software support remote control of those settings. In practice, this is model-dependent and often more limited than simple synchronized triggering.

So the short answer is: yes, but not with every camera utility, and feature support depends on the specific cameras and control system.
