I want to use a Nikon D7000 to capture live action and send its HDMI feed into an HD video mixer for recording. Is the HDMI output clean (no display overlays), and can the camera continue outputting video while also taking still photos without interrupting the signal?

I'm not familiar with the camera or informed, but my guess is no. The reasoning: this would be an interesting, cool, and unusual video feature, so if it were possible it would be prominent in the marketing materials. (The Canon 5DII, e.g., mentions it - thx @Rowland Shaw.)

(Will delete if someone who is familiar or informed shows up with a more definitive answer.)

No. Based on the community answers, the Nikon D7000 does not provide a suitable clean HDMI feed for this use: its HDMI output is lower resolution and includes display overlays. It also cannot shoot stills during video capture without interruption. Taking a still requires the camera’s mirror/shutter operation, which interrupts live view/video output for a few seconds. So for a live mixed HD workflow, the D7000 is not a good fit if you need uninterrupted video output and simultaneous still capture.
