Can a Canon EOS 80D automatically transfer photos to a computer over Wi‑Fi while shooting?

I’m using a Canon EOS 80D with EOS Utility over Wi‑Fi. I can manually transfer photos already on the camera, but I want images to be sent to my computer automatically as I take them, without having to stop and start transfers from the computer each time. Is this possible in EOS Utility, and are there any limitations?

Yes there is!

In EOS utility you can go to live shoot, then you can see a panel that looks a bit like this:

In this box the bottom-right icon (the one with the laptop and the down facing arrow) will open a menu where you can set how and where the images are downloaded as you shoot! (Raw files cannot go over Wi-Fi; you should load them on your PC with a card reader for the best result.)

Yes. In Canon EOS Utility, use the remote/live shooting mode rather than the manual download screen. In that mode, there’s a download/save settings option where you can choose how and where images are sent to the computer as you shoot, so new photos can be transferred automatically over Wi‑Fi.

The main limitation mentioned is file type: RAW files cannot be transferred over Wi‑Fi in this setup, so this is mainly for JPEG workflow. If you need RAW files, the better approach is to copy them later from the memory card with a card reader.

So the short version is: automatic transfer while shooting is possible on the 80D via EOS Utility’s live/remote shooting settings, but don’t expect RAW-over-Wi‑Fi support.
