Cooper Gristmill
Four-story fieldstone mill on the Black River at 66 Route 24, rebuilt by Nathan Cooper in 1826. The steel waterwheel dates from 1927. Open April through October.
Hacklebarney State Park
The Black River runs through the middle of the park between big boulders, with small falls you can see from the river trail. Trout and Rinehart brooks feed in from the sides.
Willowwood Arboretum
About 130 acres of gardens, meadows and trails at 300 Longview Road. The Tubbs brothers bought the farm in 1908 and named it for the willows along the brook. Free and open to the public.
Chester Main Street
The Chester House Inn at Main and Hillside and the First Congregational Church at 30 Hillside Road are both on the National Register.
