Welcome to the Atlantic Flyway
Kick off Bird Photography Bootcamp with Bobby, Ivey, and Sony for an introduction to Cape May and what makes it such a unique location during the incredible fall migration that brings thousands of birds through the region each year.
We'll preview the weekend’s schedule, locations, logistics, and what Sony will have available for loaner cameras and lenses. Bobby will also discuss the conditions and bird activity to look for, and share some of his favorite areas to explore during your downtime.
From there, we'll dive into the art of photographing birds with intention. You'll learn how to work with light, backgrounds, composition, behavior, habitat, and changing conditions to create stronger, more meaningful images.
Reconnect with familiar faces, meet fellow bird photography enthusiasts, and get ready for a full weekend of exploring and photographing the incredible birdlife of Cape May.
**This class will be held within the West Cape May Fire Headquarters at 732 Broadway, West Cape May, NJ 08204.

Golden Hour at Cape May Meadows
Join Ivey and Bobby to explore the incredible mix of freshwater wetlands, open meadows, dunes, and coastal habitats that attract a wide variety of migrating birds.
All photowalks and boat tours will have Sony loaners available!

Sunrise at Higbee Beach
(Advanced Hike with Bobby)
Explore the fields, forest edges, and surrounding habitat in search of the morning migration.

Sunrise at Cape May Meadows
(Beginner Hike with Ivey)
Explore the pristine landscapes and diverse habitats of this sanctuary dedicated to both native and migratory birds.
1pm - 2:30pm
Enhance Your Editing Skills with Ivey
Learn your way around Adobe Lightroom and go in-depth on editing techniques that will bring your visual stories to life.
**This class will be held within the Nature Center at 350 Lighthouse Rd, Cape May Point, NJ 08212.
3pm - 6:30pm
Golden Hour at Cape May Point
Learn more about Cape May's migratory birds with Park Naturalist Matt Pelligrine before we head out with Ivey and Bobby. Look for birds in flight and other migrants.
Sunday
Back Bay Boat Tours with Ivey and Bobby
Cruise through Cape May's beautiful back bays and coastal salt marshes aboard the Osprey, exploring areas that simply can't be experienced the same way from land. These productive wetlands provide important habitat for an incredible variety of birds and wildlife, while also creating some truly beautiful opportunities for photography. Leading us is Captain Bob and the crew of the Osprey, who bring an incredible knowledge of the local ecosystem, birdlife, tides, and hidden corners of the marsh.
10am - 1pm / Morning Tour
Our morning cruise will take advantage of active daytime birdlife as we go in search of feeding, resting, and migrating birds. With plenty of natural light and constantly changing subjects, this trip is a great opportunity to focus on behavior, birds in flight, portraits, and environmental compositions.
4pm - 7pm / Sunset Tour
Join us later in the day as the marsh transforms in the warmer evening light. Capture reflections, silhouettes, and colorful skies as the sun begins to set over the back bays. It's an incredible setting for combining bird photography with the beauty of the Cape May landscape.
Each tour is limited to 15 attendees!

Ivey Kennedy

Bobby Stormer
is an award-winning and published wildlife photographer. He has volunteered for wildlife rehabilitation rescues, dog rescues, and conservation efforts, and credits this experience as instrumental to his success in reading animal behaviors, tracking wildlife, and capturing those treasured moments.
