The Rolleiflex F/3.5 MX-EVS TLR Camera boasted a designed that was ahead of its time, when introduced in 1949. As the acronym suggests, this camera has twin lenses, one for taking pictures and the other for composing the scene. The lens handling photo capture comes with coated elements to provide crisp photo quality. With the Compur-Rapid X CR00 leaf shutter, the camera can snap pictures at 1/500th of a second. The viewing lens has a focal length of 75mm, which is same as that of the taking lens. Parallax error correction is provided to ensure you get the perfectly framed composition. The front sync socket can be used for connecting an external flash unit.
Optics and Focus
The F/3.5 MX-EVS camera features a dual lens system, in which the taking lens has a maximum aperture of f/3.5 and reproduction ratio of 1:3.5. As for the viewing lens, you obtain a reproduction ratio of 1:2.8 and a focal length of 75mm, same as that of the taking lens. Both the taking and viewing lenses are coated to reduce reflections. Also, a size 1 filter bayonet is located on both the lenses. The Compur-Rapid X CR00 leaf shutter offers a maximum speed of 1/500th of a second. It also has a B mode for capturing photos with a long exposure.
Sensor and Screen
The camera has a waist-level viewfinder that works in conjunction with the viewing lens. In the finder, you can find a split-image or focusing aid, which comes in handy when employing the manual focus operation.
Image and Video
This TLR camera uses a 120 film roll to provide up to 12 exposures. The camera also prevents double exposure to keep each frame in the roll safe.
Other Features
The camera has a sync terminal at the front, which connects both electronic flash units and flashbulbs. The flash units can be synchronized at any speed. This camera offers parallax correction to ensure the frame gets properly composed and no part of the image is cut off.
