Overview
The Osmo 4K Camera system from DJI combines the Zenmuse X3 camera/gimbal with a detatchable handle. This benefits stabilized 4K shooting with a handheld style. The Zenmuse X3 camera features a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor that allows up to full DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) video recording at 24 or 25p/12MP photo capability. The basic controls are provided on the handle of the camera/gimbal and include a joystick for manual pan and tilt. For monitoring/advanced operation, there is a Wi-Fi link allowing Osmo to be tethered to a smartphone, which uses the DJI GO iOS and Android app.
The Osmo 4K Camera has a grip for handheld operation. The handle incorporates a joystick for tilting and panning the gimbal. A record start/stop button is included, as well as a shutter button, putting the essential controls comfortably in reach. A trigger allows you to toggle modes. The camera/gimbal can detach from the handle for storage or use in other scenarios. The user is able to operate the gimbal while viewing a live feed through the GO App for iOS and Android. A Wi-Fi link in the camera allows you to tether your smartphone, and supports a range of up to 85'. The app also allows you to change camera settings and access advanced features. The camera system incorporates three motors, stabilizing the camera as well as moving it manually in relation to the handle. Using the handle's joystick, or smartphone app, it can be panned over a 320 degree range, tilt down 35 degrees, and up 135 degrees. It can tilt or pan at a rate of up to 120 degrees per second. Panorama mode, time-lapse recording, and tripod-free long exposures are capable with this camera system. A built-in microphone allows onboard audio recording. With audio gain settings, and other advanced controls, you can be sure you're capturing the sound. A standard 3.5mm port is also available, which allows you to plug in your own microphone.
