The Canon Rebel T5i Digital SLR embodies the 18 MP CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor to provide high-definition imagery in low light. This camera is designed for Canon EF-mount lenses. The maximum native ISO range of 12800 can be extended up to 25600. Capture images of moving objects by boosting the shutter speed up to 1/4000th of a second. The camera can record Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps and take continuous burst shots at 5 fps. You can compose the scene or watch recorded videos and photos on the 3.0-inch vari-angle LCD screen. The built-in flash and hot shoe contact make it possible to shoot at night or in dim-lit conditions. The camera runs on an LP-E8 rechargeable Li-ion battery pack.

Optics and Focus

The Canon T5i comes with four auto exposure modes, namely aperture priority, shutter priority, Program, and auto. You can also manually meter the exposure setting of the camera. The 63-zone dual-layer sensor works with the 9-point AF system to give accuracy in focus selection. With the mechanical shutter, you can take pictures of fast-moving objects without experiencing the rolling shutter effect. The electronic shutter is meant in situations where you need utter silence when capturing photographs. Both mechanical and electronic shutters have a speed limit of 1/4000 of a second.

Sensor and Screen

The camera's 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor offers high color sensitivity to captures vibrant images. This DSLR comes with a 3.0-inch Clear View II LCD that can be tilted when shooting from a high or low angle. Additionally, the LCD has a smudge-resistant coating and seven-level brightness control. An optical viewfinder is also a part of the camera design, which has 0.87× magnification and 95% screen coverage. The viewfinder diopter can be varied from -3 and +1 dpt. You get 100% screen coverage with the LCD screen.

Image and Video

The Canon T5i DSLR captures images in JPEG and RAW formats with a maximum resolution of 5184×3456 dpi. With this camera, you can record full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps and 720p videos at 60 fps. The continuous shooting mode takes burst shots at a frame rate of 5 fps. Thanks to the DIGIC 5 image processor, the low-light performance of the camera is improved by reducing the noise in the photo. The scene intelligent auto mode enhances the colors and smoothens the skin tone in the image according to the adjustments made by the EOS scene detection system.

Other Features

The camera has a built-in flash with a compensation range of -2 EV to +2 EV. You can also fix a Speedlight flash to the hot shoe contact. The camera synchronizes the flash with the shutter at 1/200th of a second. Delay the shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds with the self-timer. Transfer recorded media to your computer system by attaching the camera through the USB 2.0 interface. You can use the HDMI C port to stream the stored videos and photos on your HDTV. The camera comes with an LP-E8 rechargeable Li-ion battery.
