The Yashica 635 TLR was a renovation of its era as it worked with both 120 film roll and 35mm films. It requires an optional adapter kit for the 35mm roll. This TLR has an 80mm f/3.5 taking lens and a separate viewing lens. The camera has a Copal mechanical leaf shutter with maximum speed of 1/500th of a second. You can set the shutter to "B" mode for taking time-exposure shots. The SLR type interchangeable waist-level viewfinder offers 100% screen coverage. A depth-of-field preview feature is provided for allowing you to check the image result beforehand. The camera has PC socket to connect an external flash. This camera has its body made of rugged one-piece aluminum alloy.

Optics and Focus

The camera sports two lenses, one for composing the shot and other for capturing the image. The taking lens has an 80mm focal length and a maximum aperture of F/3.5. You can stopped-down the lens to f/22. You can control the aperture opening by using the control wheel located on left side of the camera's face. The camera uses the Copal mechanical leaf shutter that has a maximum speed of 1/500th of a second. Use the focus knob in conjunction with a ground-glass viewing screen and clear focusing spot.

Sensor and Screen

The viewing lens of the camera covers 100% of the screen area to ensure there is no image cropping at the corners. As the viewing screen shows exact field covered by the taking lens, you can compose the shot within the viewing frame comfortably.

Image and Video

The camera is designed for 120 roll films that give up to 12 exposures. You can also use 35mm film rolls with an optional adapter kit. The camera has a manual film loading mechanism for both 120 roll and 35mm film. You can layer multiple images on a single frame for creating a multi-exposure effect.

Other Features

The camera has a PC socket that can be used for connecting an external strobe. You can synchronize the connected flash to all shutter speeds up to 1/500th of a second. Check whether the focus and aperture settings are correct or not by using the depth-of-field preview feature. Enable the self-timer to delay the shutter release so that you can also become a part of the picture. This camera accepts select mechanical threaded cable release for allowing to use F and F2, or old Leica cameras with the Yashica 635. The camera can be mounted on 1/4-inch threaded tripods.
