Capture crisp and vibrant photographs even in low light with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mirrorless Camera. This camera can be used with Micro Four Third mount lenses. The 16.3MP Live MOS sensor and TruePic VII image processor work together to high-quality 16.3 MP image and Full HD video capture. Thanks to the Fine Detail II technology, chromatic aberrations in the image get automatically corrected. The camera comes with the FAST dual phase- and contrast-detection AF system that ensures accurate focusing even on a moving subject. You can tilt the 3.0-inch 1037K-dot LCD for using the camera from a high or low angle. The built-in Wi-Fi allows you to transfer images to smartphones as well as control the camera with the Olympus O.I. Share app.

Optics and Focus

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12–50mm 3.5–6.3 EZ lens comes with the camera, which has 10 elements in 9 groups. There are three aspherical, one HR and ED element to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations. The MSC AF system works in tandem with the FAST focusing system that includes 81 contrast-detection and 37 phase-detection points. The macro mode button increases the focusing range to 7.9–19.7 inches. You can access lens setting with the programmable L-Fn button. Both mechanical and electronic shutters have a maximum speed of 1/8000th of a second. The ISO sensitivity has a maximum limit of 25600 that makes you use the camera in varied light conditions. This camera features the Fine Detail II technology autocorrects chromatic aberrations in the image depending on which lens you are using.

Sensor and Screen

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera uses the 16.3MP CMOS sensor to take pictures and record Full HD videos. With the 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD, you get a 1037K-dot resolution view of the scene. The electronic viewfinder offers an approximate magnification of 1.48× and diopter adjustment of -4 to +2. Both LCD screen and viewfinder cover 100% of the frame area.

Image and Video

The camera offers 12-bit image capture with a maximum resolution of 4608×3456 dpi in RAW, MPO, and JPEG format. This camera can record 1080p videos at a frame rate of 30 fps. The continuous shooting mode can take burst shots at 10 fps, thus making a fast-paced action freeze in a series of still images. The TruePic VII image processor not only contributes to the imaging functions but also improves the overall performance of the camera system. With the 5-axis image stabilization, the effects of camera shakes are reduced. Additionally, it offers compensation for vertical and horizontal angle rotation as well as the horizontal and vertical shift in the camera movement.

Other Features

The camera's Wi-Fi capability can be used to send recorded media on smartphones and tablets. You can connect an optional RM-UC1 remote to control the camera when taking long exposure shots. Mount an external flash to the provided hot shoe and PC terminal. The self-timer offers a shutter release delay of 2 to 12 seconds. To maintain image quality, a dust reduction system is incorporated into the camera, which works with the Supersonic Wave Filter to clean particles off the sensor. The camera uses a 1220 mAh BLN-1 rechargeable Li-ion battery pack. This camera has a dust- and splash-proof design that makes it function even in inclement weather.
