The Contax RTS II Quarts 35MM SLR Camera is a redesigned version of the Contax RTS. It features new upgrades such as quartz timing, 97% optical viewfinder, and electronic titanium shutter curtain. The camera's exposure metering is based on the TTL center-weighted pattern and covers images within the illumination range of EV-1 to 19. You can obtain accurate focus with the integrated microprism screen. The camera allows you to take multiple exposures by pressing the rewind release button. A hot shoe with x-sync contact enables the use of external strobes. The coupling at the rear allows you to use optional motor drives and data backs.
Optics and Focus
The camera accepts Contax AE mount lenses. You can determine the exposure with the TTL center-weighted method. Use the aperture priority exposure to pinpoint the correct the shutter duration for obtaining desired results. In the manual exposure mode, you can adjust the ISO speed from 12 to 3200 and shutter speed from 16 to 1/2000th of a second. The standard focusing screen in the RTS II has a microprism circle in the center to assist you in the focusing work.
Sensor and Screen
The Contax RTS II is fitted with an optical viewfinder that offers 97% frame coverage than its predecessor. When framing the scene through the viewfinder, you can see the aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, and other image settings.
Image and Video
The camera uses 35mm film rolls for capturing exposures. You can wind the film by rotating the film advance lever by 120° in one stroke or a series of short strokes. Use the crank handle on the top to rewind the film once it reaches the end. You can attach the optional film motor for automatic film advance and rewind.
Other Features
This Contax SLR comes with a hot shoe that allows the attachment of electronic flash heads. The mounted flash can be synchronized with the shutter speed at 1/60th of a second. You can view the number of exposures taken in the frame counter window. With the DOF preview, you can see the final result of the applied settings before taking the shot. The rear memo holder can be used to keep a note of the current film. This 35mm film camera runs on a 6.2v silver-oxide battery.
