Overview
The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9M is the newest mirrorless camera on the block featuring HD video recording and image capture options. This camera is designed for Micro Four Thirds mount lenses. The 20.3 MP Digital Live MOS sensor works with the Venus Engine image processor to produce HD videos and improves low light performance. You can record UHD 4K-quality videos at a frame rate of 30 fps. The camera also provides 4K 8 MP burst shooting rate at 30 fps. This mirrorless camera features the advanced DFD AF technology and dual image stabilization 2.0. You can transfer images to smart devices such as mobiles and tablets by enabling the built-in Wi-Fi or use the Bluetooth 4.2 BLE to operate the camera remotely. The front and rear dials offer intuitive control over aperture and shutter speed settings.
Optics and Focus
The camera can be used with Micro Four Thirds mount lenses. Thanks to the Depth-From-Defocus technology, the camera accurately switches between focus distances. The 49 contrast-detection points support still image capture as well as video recording. Use the Starlight AF function to enable precise AF performance down to -4 EV. The Dual Image Stabilization 2.0 combines the camera's sensor-shift image stabilization technology to the lens' optical image stabilization. The mechanical and electronic shutter has a maximum speed of 1/4000th and 1/16000th of a second respectively.
Sensor and Screen
The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9M works on the 20.3 MP Digital Live MOS sensor that offers a wide dynamic range. The camera has a 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD that offers 1.04m-dot resolution view. You can tilt the LCD to use the camera from a high or low angle. The OLED electronic viewfinder provides a 2.76m-dot resolution and 0.7× magnification. Just like the LCD, you can tilt the EVF upwards when using the camera from waist level. The LCD screen and OLED viewfinder cover 100% of the frame area.
Image and Video
This Panasonic mirrorless camera offers UHD 4K video recording at 60 fps and 1080p videos at 60 fps. The camera also takes still images with a maximum resolution of 5184×3888 dpi in JPEG and RAW format. The camera also features three 4K burst modes namely, Burst, Pre-burst, and Burst (S/S). You can process the RAW images in-camera to simplify your post-production workflow. The camera includes different picture style modes such as Monochrome and Scenery, as well as the picture control modes such as Sepia, Bleach Bypass, and Sunshine.
Other Features
The Panasonic camera comes with the Bluetooth 4.2 that allows you to control the camera remotely. Also, you can enable the Wi-Fi connectivity to send images to your smartphone. Apart from the built-in flash, you can mount an external flash on to the hot shoe. The camera can take 260 shots with rear LCD and 250 still images with the electronic viewfinder on a fully charged 1025 mAh Li-ion battery pack.
