Overview

The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens, designed for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, is the right choice for portraiture. Its lens construction involves 14 elements arranged in 12 groups. Among these elements are two Super Low Dispersion elements, an anomalous partial dispersion element, and an aspherical element that reduce spherical distortions and chromatic aberrations. This Sigma lens features a super multi-layer coating that suppresses ghosting and flare, and can focus on objects from a closest distance of 85 cm without a noise, courtesy of the Hyper Sonic AF motor. Further, the wide aperture of f/1.4 not only benefits low-light shooting, but also creates a shallow depth of field. Additionally, the lens’s rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces a smooth bokeh effect in the out-of-focus background.
