The Pentax MX 35MM Film SLR takes you back in time to experience the uniqueness of film photography. It can be used with Pentax M series lenses. The camera used TTL center-weighted exposure metering via GPD cells. You can compose the scene with the 0.97× optical viewfinder. The camera-related information such as shutter speed and aperture is shown inside the viewfinder. You can mount an external flash on the camera's hot shoe. An FP socket is provided for flashbulbs. The camera is powered by two 1.5V silver oxide batteries.
Optics and Focus
The Pentax MX SLR can work with M series lenses. You can use the TTL exposure metering with a center-weighted pattern to determine the image look. The camera can operate within an illumination range of EV 1 to EV 19 at ISO 100 and an f-stop value of 1.4. You can adjust the shutter speed of the camera from 1 to 1/1000th of a second. The high shutter speed allows you to click pictures of fast moving objects without any rolling shutter effect. Thanks to the instant return mirror, the camera avoid blurring of images during exposure metering. The split-image screen in the viewfinder lets you accurately focus on an object.
Sensor and Screen
The camera allows image composition with its optical viewfinder that has an image magnification of 0.97×. With the viewfinder, you get a screen coverage of 95%. The viewfinder has indicators inside it to show the shutter speed and aperture.
Image and Video
The Pentax MX film camera takes pictures with 35mm film rolls. Its standard film advance mechanism lets you change the frame by rotating the wind lever by 162° while keeping the stand-off angle at 20°. You can opt for the separately available Winder MX for automatic film advance and burst shooting of 2 fps.
Other Features
The Pentax MX camera comes with a hot shoe that accepts various electronic flash heads. You can synchronize electronic strobes up to 1/60th of a second. An FP terminal is provided to connect flashbulbs that can synchronize at all shutter speeds. You can put the label of the current film in the memo holder. The camera has an LED that blinks double to confirm the battery is not exhausted.
