The Konica Auto S2 comes with a fixed Hexanon 45mm f/1.8 lens and an automatic mode to facilitate point-and-shoot style photography. The Hexanon lens has a fast aperture to ensure bright pictures in low light and shallow depth-of-field. This camera has its viewfinder coupled with the rangefinder and has parallax correction marks. The Copal SVA shutter has a maximum speed of 1/500th of a second. With this camera, you get a working range of 1.7 to 17 at ASA 100. The camera allows you to use an external flash via its accessory shoe and PC sync port. You can use a 1.3V battery to function the light meter.

Optics and Focus

The fixed Hexanon 45mm f/1.8 lens includes 6 elements in 4 groups. Its fast aperture of f/1.8 allows you to take photographs in low light. Additionally, the high aperture number offers shallow depth of field. This lens can be manually focused to a minimum distance of 0.9 m. You can screw-in a 55mm circular filter to the lens. A retractable hood is also integrated into the lens for blocking stray light. The camera uses the CdS-cell fully automatic exposure meter with a needle for the aperture in the viewfinder. Apart from automatic exposure, the camera allows you to override the exposure if it is not correctly set manually. This camera has a working range of 1.7 to 17 at ASA 100. You can monitor the exposure in the meter provided at the top.

Sensor and Screen

The camera comes with a fixed eye-level viewfinder with a magnification of 0.65×. It has a side-illuminated bright frame with automatic correction for parallax and picture angle. The rangefinder is coupled with the viewfinder, which provides a minimum working range of up to 3 feet.

Image and Video

The Konica Auto S2 captures exposures on a 35mm film. You can wind the film by turning the advance lever 134° or in series of short strokes. The shutter is cocked simultaneously when you turn the advance lever. Press the rewind button and turn the crank to rewind the film into the cartridge.

Other Features

The accessory shoe allows you to mount an external flash. You can then connect the mounted flash to the camera through the PC sync port. The flash can be synchronized at all shutter speeds. When the subject is overexposed, the shutter button is automatically disabled. Check whether the battery is functioning or not by pressing the battery test button.
