The Canon Vixia HF G50 UHD 4K Camcorder is designed for professional videography such as event or news coverage. It may also be a useful tool in the hands of a creative filmmaker during his or her earlier career stage. The camcorder sports a large-format CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV 6 image processor that works with the Canon 4K-compatible 20× optical zoom lens for producing ultra high-definition videos. Also, the Over Sampling HD Processing delivers stunning 1080p footage. The fast and slow-motion video capture brings variety in the workflow. This Canon camcorder has a tilting LCD to allow working from high or low angles. The electronic viewfinder is also present for eye-level operation. You can insert two SD cards in the camera to increase the shooting duration.
Optics and Focus
The Canon Vixia HF G50 Camcorder takes advantage of the Canon 4K-compatible 20× optical zoom lens to provide ultra-high-definition imagery. It has a 35mm equivalent focal range of 29.3–601mm. The inclusion of special glass elements and application of unique coating reduces ghosting and various aberrations throughout the zoom range. The lens also retains the image detail when zoomed up to 20×. All the eight aperture blades are rounded to create smooth bokeh quality. With the intelligent 5-axis image stabilization, the camcorder corrects unwanted shakes even at long focal lengths.
Sensor and Screen
The camcorder is armed with a large-format, high-sensitivity CMOS Sensor to render accurate color and achieve the UHD 4K resolution without any compromise in quality. The 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD can be tilted to compose the scene from a high or low angle. It also simplifies navigation through different camera menus. The camcorder integrates an electronic viewfinder in its design, which has an eye-cup for comfortable eye-level composition. You can also tilt the EVF for additional convenience.

The Vixia HF G50 camcorder captures videos in UHD 4K resolution at 30 fps. You can record Full HD 1080p and HD 720p at a frame rate of 60 fps, allowing you to slow down the footage in post-production. The camcorder shoots videos in NTSC for compatibility with american and european broadcasting standards. You can shoot videos in slow or fast motion. The interval shooting mode allows you to create time-lapse sequences.
Other Features
The camcorder has a cold shoe for mounting an LED panel or boom mic. There are two SD slots for increasing the shooting time. The lens ring is knurled to offer control over the focus. You can use the custom dial to get complete control of the settings. The assignable functional buttons let you plan the control layout of the camcorder. A BP-820 Li-ion battery pack is included with the camcorder. You can charge the battery with the provided power adapter.
