OVERVIEW
B+W's UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter is a 43mm ultraviolet and infrared control filter for digital cinematography and still photography. When employed, a filter blocks 88 percent of ultraviolet light waves at 380 nanometers and 95 percent of infrared light waves at 700 nanometers, guaranteeing that only visible light is captured. Potential infrared color shifts are eliminated or minimized when used in conjunction with multi-stop neutral-density filters, keeping color accuracy throughout the frame. When shooting digital video or still images in daylight with high UV light, this filter also reduces undesired blue casts.
The proprietary Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) nano premium coating technology is used to create B+W MRC Basic filters. This high-quality broadband coating is placed on both sides and improves optical imaging qualities, allowing for consistent and enhanced transmittance across the full light spectrum with minimum physically induced residual reflection. The filter glass's nano all-around protection also ensures greater scratch resistance and quick, easy cleaning, resulting in an extended filter life. Wide-angle lenses with an equivalent width of a 17mm full-frame lens are compatible with the small filter ring design. The top knurling has been modified to improve grip.
