This class is for beginners to amateur photographers looking to gain a better understanding of the automated modes and features, as well as the manual control and capabilities of your digital SLR.  You will be instructed on the importance of understanding the fundamentals of photography such as depth of field, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, metering, white balance, reading histograms, on-camera flashes, lenses, and how each of these will affect your photos!

Join Canon’s Rick Berk as he explores the basic use of HD video in common shooting situations, allowing you to double your creative production in addition to the still photos you already shoot.  It doesn’t have to be a Hollywood Production - Canon HDSLRs offer a new way to make great home movies that will wow your friends and family!

INTRO TO HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR) PHOTOGRAPHY

High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography is a set of techniques that allows a greater range between the light and dark areas of a scene that is different from standard digital manipulation. The intention of HDR is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.  Using multiple images with varying exposures, students will use photo-manipulating software to apply exposure blending and tone mapping and turn "the real" into the surreal.

Knowing all the science and mathematics behind photography can only take you so far.  The art of photography is 90 percent seeing and 10 percent photographing.  Students will learn the vital aspects and rules of image composition and graphic design as they apply to taking photographs. Our professional staff will go over basics such as the rule of thirds, perspective, horizontal vs. vertical orientation, and designing a photograph to assist you in developing your own personal style and vision.

Intructed by Unique University Head Instructor Michael Downey, this course teaches you how to use EOS Utilities to plug in authoring and copyright statements into your camera.  You will further learn how to offload files from your camera or card onto a hard drive.  Then we will go through the steps for editing pictures using Digital Photo Professional tools and converting pictures into usable TIFF or JPG files.
