The 100 Most Influential Cameras of All Time

Sometimes, it does us a world of good to take a deep breath, sip some tea, and get a bit nostalgic. In fact...let's take such a moment. I'll wait. Go put a pot of water on.

Pop Chart Lab has released the "Visual Compendium of Cameras", a poster that displays the 100 most important cameras in history, beginning with the famous Kodak camera of 1888. The poster recognizes them all - the Leicas, the Rolleiflex(es?), the Hasselblads - even up to modern day icons like the iPhone 5 (sorry, traditionalists, it belongs there). At the moment, the awesome print can be yours for $22 on the website, with shipping slated for April 29th.

compendium How many have you owned or used?

Some will probably argue over the placing of certain cameras, but I suppose that's good; let's start a debate. For once, let's focus on the awesome gear that we already use and have used on a daily basis, rather than voraciously devour every modicum of rumor about the latest niche camera that may or may not be coming out. As a bonus, it's a fun way to catch a glimpse of cameras that were all the rage before our time -- especially if you've grown up as film slowly faded to digital, as I have. It's remarkable, too, how early the "SLR" form factor was available to photographers - that is, how a camera could be held with one hand on the body and one on the lens.

What do you think? Are there any cameras you'd add to the list?
