Taking those stunning panoramas can be a little more tricky to pull off than you think. Go a little too fast, too slow, had too much coffee and you're sure to get some ghastly ghost images of buildings that don't line up with strange perspective, people without their heads, elongated dogs. Pretty weird stuff. If only there was something to make it a little easier...Enter the Spinpod: A little hockey puck-shaped carousel that helps your camera create hands-free, perfectly stitched panoramas.
At first glance, the tiny unassuming Spinpod looks a little gimmicky...Then you see that there's the ability to chose between panoramas and time lapse with an intuitive interface for timer and direction of rotation. The pod also acts as a dock for self portraits and video chat with passive sound amplification. Perhaps even more interesting in this demo is when they put two Spinpods together for a pan and tilt effect. Then there's a mount where they attached one to small skate dolly, allowing it to do horizontal panning. Now that's impressive. Looks can sure be deceiving.
The Spinpod is on Kickstarter now and it's surprising that they haven't reached their goal since this is probably one of the more deserving things out there. As of today they have less than two weeks, so if you feel like backing this project here's the Kickstarter page.
