Like all internet fads, this one started off pretty harmless...Back in 2007, Carl Morris of Cardiff held a Paul McCartney record up to his head while DJing at a club. Even he admits that it was childish, but the sight of an awestruck Beatle bobbing his head in a club became such a hit that pictures started circulating all throughout the interweb. Thus the "Sleeveface" meme was born, and everyone and their mothers began digging through their LP crates looking for faces on record covers so that they could take goofy pictures. The Sleeveface movement became so popular that Morris and his friend John Rostron created a book that compiled the best sleevefaces from all around the world. There's even a sleevefacer app for the iPhone that does the dirty work for you. Although it's hasn't reached the popularity of something as ridiculous as planking, its nice to see people giving some love to their old records. Even in terms of memes: "It's better to burn out than fade away."
