SeeSV-S2: A Sound Camera for the Masses

Over the past few summers, there have been a few occasions in which a cricket found its way into my house. No matter how many chair cushions I turned over or dressers I emptied, I could never track them down, and they knew it. They waited until I was finally on the brink of sleep before chirping, driving me mad like a bad reading of Poe's A Telltale Heart. What we're featuring today would have saved me quite a lot of mental anguish and sleepless hours: the SeeSV-S2.

sound camera

The SeeSV is a camera that uses sound waves to create images, and the result looks quite similar to what we've seen from thermal imaging cameras. Sound cameras have existed for a few years now, but they have never been as portable as this SeeSV concept. As the video touts, mechanics and technicians will find it useful for diagnosing where pesky sounds come from on their client's cars, but imagine the plethora of other uses: testing the acoustics of a theater, animal tracking, police work...take your pick.

Unfortunately, there is not pricing scheme at the moment, so we'll have to wait for our chance to finally track down that cricket.
