Follow my blog with Bloglovin The countdown to New Year’s Eve party begins now, and all of you, including us, are eagerly waiting for that night. Apart from all the fun we are sure to have, we also want to keep a photo album to later remind ourselves of the note on which we ended the glorious year. There is nothing very tricky about it, just a few essential things that will spice up the album, and help you take great photos. Imagine the lights, the exquisite fireworks that are so compelling, they have to be recorded, the party, the glamorous guests, and so much more. So, here are a few New Year photography tips: Before leaving for the party (if it’s not at your place), do check that you have a few essentials of night photography in your knapsack. If you aren’t sure, do refer to some night photography tips. You will frequently come across dimly lit spaces, and feel tempted to click pictures. To arm yourself enough, get your tripod as well, so that you are absolutely ready to shoot outside in the dark and low-light areas. Your checklist: your preferred lenses, camera, storage cards, batteries, and flash attachments. Include all these accessories, and you’re good to go. If you’re indoors, one fun thing you can certainly do is install a photo booth. This will also make the guests strike a pose, which they would like to keep for their own albums too. A great wall for a photo booth can be a gold sequin backdrop that is awesome for formal parties in general, but just about anything will do. You can even think of improvising a bit on the spot. Just remember, glitzy and glamorous usually do the job better at a party shoot. Lighting is something you should be most careful about. Since you won’t really have much time to carry every essential item with you, you will have to use the ambient lighting to your advantage. While shooting indoors, consider avoiding the flash completely, especially if you think there is already enough light available. Also, before you actually start clicking pictures, change your settings manually, particularly the white balance and aperture settings. One key advice: allow as much light to enter through the aperture as you can, so that you capture the maximum light that your subjects reflect for clicking well-lit photos. You will see the results yourself. Now, let’s move on to dark outdoors. Here, we will be more or less interested in photographing the fireworks. Tips for fireworks photography are really simple and easy to follow. First, use a slow shutter speed, so that you capture maximum light. Keep the ISO settings between 200 and 400, and avoid using the automatic settings as much as possible. A tripod will prove its worth now, so do use it. In case you don't have one, then you may shop from our huge collection of tripods. Capture photos in full frames. Vertical shots usually look great, but horizontals can look equally good, depending on the environment, so just choose your format well. That’s really all it takes to take home a great New Year photography album, which serves as a souvenir to keep for an entire year until the next one arrives.
