Marksta: A Mobile Watermarking App for iOS

With the recent Instagram backlash, Photographers are increasingly apprehensive to put their work on the web for fear of stolen credit. It's a shame since we make images to be seen. Being constantly vigilant of someone trying to cash in on your passion can definitely take the joy out of sharing. Although there's nothing we can do to stop people from being shady, there's always precautions we can take to make sure credit is given where it's due.

One photographer who was fed up with people stealing his images online decided to do something about it. Not just for himself, but for the whole community. John D McHugh, a photojournalist known for his work in Afghanistan, helped create a simple watermarking app for iOS called Marksta that allows one to easily add a name, logo, or any other information to an image before uploading to any social network. Sure, you can easily do this on your computer, but for those on the go this is a great way to streamline the process of protecting your work. The app is available free for a limited time so don't miss out!
