If you've been in the photography game for more than a few years, you'll be familiar with that pang of dread when your beautifully composed image is - shudder - out of focus. Sometimes, your autofocus will ruin the shot of the bride tossing the bouquet, while other times even a minor adjustment to a manual focus ring will destroy what could be the shot that makes it into a magazine. Can anything be done?
Enter SmartDeblur.
Created by someone with a dizzying amount of programming knowledge, SmartDeblur effectively "redistributes" out-of-focus data based on the type of focusing malady that plagues your photo (lens blur, motion blur, etc.). Such ideas aren't exactly new; Adobe has been working on their own version of the software as well. In any case, the results aren't going to yield quality prints, as seen in the photo above. It can, however, be utilized by law enforcement, the courts, private detectives, and for anyone who really needs information from a blurry photograph.
Within a few years, though, who knows...maybe your winning shot will be saved by some of this miracle software.
