California's famous ghost town photos by Jeff Cable

Famous American photographer, Jeff Cable, recently visited Bodie, the Californian ghost town, situated near Lake Mono. The town is in proximity to Yosemite and isn’t that easy to locate. It’s situated in the middle of the Californian desert and isn’t in vicinity to any of the state’s popular cities. Matter of fact, the town can only be accessed by a singular dirt road, when you reach the final 3 miles before entering the town. However if you love taking rustic and stark photographs, this town should be high on your radar. The antiquated setting and desolate features of the town ironically make it paradise for photographers who dabble in harsh tones and worn-out landscapes. Below are some really haunting pictures shot by Jeff Cable on his recent trip to Bodie.

The town’s people aren’t making an effort to restore or upkeep it. They like it the way it is. Currently, just 15% of the town’s original buildings are standing and these numbers are bound to radically decrease in the coming years. So if you are a photography aficionado and love capturing archaic and dreary images, visit Bodie at the earliest, before none of the old town is left standing.
