LUMIX Firmware Updates for LUMIX S5II, S5IIX, GH7 and G9II
LUMIX has announced a host of new firmware updates for its full frame mirrorless LUMIX S5II and S5IIX, and Micro Four Thirds mirrorless GH7 and G9II cameras that improve the shooting experience and enhance functionality.
The multiple frame markers display feature is now available in S5II, S5IIX, GH7 and G9II, allowing for the simultaneous display of up to three frame markers. The size and position of each frame marker can be adjusted, adding versatility for content creators framing for different aspect ratios or planning shots with multiple compositions. This further enhances the unrivaled convenience of shooting in Open Gate.
The compatibility with the LUMIX Lab smartphone app has been expanded for these models as well to include remote shooting, shutter control, and the transfer of images selected on the camera, enhancing its functionality.
In line with LUMIX’s continuous commitment to supporting creators, the latest firmware updates will be available to download free of charge from the LUMIX Global Customer Support website on January 22nd, 2025, in the U.S.
LUMIX S5II Firmware Version 3.2 and LUMIX S5IIX Firmware Version 2.2
- Enhanced LUMIX Lab App Features: Compatibility with the LUMIX Lab smartphone app has been expanded to include remote shooting, shutter control, image transfer directly from the camera, and a wireless live streaming feature* for enhanced functionality. (*LUMIX S5IIX only.)
- Advanced Phase Hybrid Auto Focus: The highly accurate phase hybrid auto focus system has been further improved with enhanced subject detection, with the option to select detection of airplanes and trains, as well as specific parts of cars and motorcycles
- Versatile Multi-Frame Markers: Display feature for multiple frame markers allows for simultaneous display of up to three frame markers, with adjustable size and position; adds versatility for content creators framing for different aspect ratios or planning shots with multiple compositions, for shooting in Open Gate.
- Hybrid and Crop Zoom Options: Hybrid Zoom and Crop Zoom offer higher magnification without the need to exchange lenses; Hybrid Zoom uses only the zoom ring by combining optical zoom with Crop Zoom; Crop Zoom extracts the central part of an image and enhances the zoom effect without degrading image quality; both for greater flexibility in precise framing.
- MP4(Lite) for Social Sharing: Record video in Open Gate mode with reduced data consumption without compromising resolution; new smartphone-optimized format makes it easier to quickly share content on social media .
LUMIX GH7 Firmware Version 1.3

LUMIX G9II Firmware Version 2.3
