Mono no aware is a very beautiful and subtle Japanese concept. It literally means "the pathos of things" — but it's more poetic than that. It describes the bittersweet awareness of the impermanence of things — the gentle sadness and deep appreciation you feel when you realize that all things are fleeting: cherry blossoms falling, a sunset fading, a moment slipping away. It's not just sadness; it's a tender, almost beautiful sorrow — an emotional sensitivity to the passing of time and the ephemeral nature of life. It's a perfect concept if your workshop is about storytelling, capturing transient moments, and Japanese aesthetics.

FORMENTO & FORMENTO
are known for their romantic and inventive photography that blur the lines of fiction and reality, clarity, and ambiguity. Their style reveals a fascination with mood and texture where a sense of place figures prominently. From America, Europe, Cuba, Mexico, India to Japan, they blend fervent passion for photography and film with a lasting love for one another. BJ Formento learned from esteemed masters such as Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Mary Ellen Mark, and Arnold Newman. Richeille Formento was born in London and received her degrees from the prestigious Central St. Martins College of Art before working as an art director in the fashion industry.
