I have a Nikon D5200 and want to know if the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR telephoto zoom is compatible. Will it mount and autofocus properly on this camera?

Assuming you are referring to the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR - Yes of course it will work. The Nikon D5200 is a DX format camera with an F-Mount, and this is a DX format F-Mount lens. The D5200 does not have an autofocus motor built into it, but any lens that is "AF-S" has it built into the lens. So this lens will autofocus on the D5200.

Yes. The Nikon D5200 uses the Nikon F mount and is a DX-format DSLR, and the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR is a DX-format F-mount lens, so it will mount and work correctly.
Autofocus will also work because this is an AF-S lens, which has its own autofocus motor built into the lens. That matters because the D5200 does not have an in-body focus motor.
In short: it’s a compatible match for your camera, with full basic functionality including autofocus.
