I have a Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8N for Nikon F mount with AF/MF, currently used on a Nikon D5600. I'm considering buying a Nikon F55 or Nikon F80 film SLR and want to know whether this lens should be compatible, including autofocus and general operation, and whether there are any likely issues.

Without actually having tried, I would assume no issues at all.

Your Yongnuo lens is comparable (from a technical viewpoint) with the Nikon AF-S series of lenses and these are fully compatible with both the F55 and the F80.

Yes—based on its Nikon F-mount design, this Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8N should work on both the Nikon F55 and Nikon F80 without any major issues. It is broadly comparable, in technical terms, to a Nikon AF-S type lens, and those are fully compatible with both cameras. That means normal mounting and general operation should be fine, and autofocus should also be expected to work. As with any third-party lens, minor quirks are always possible, but there’s no specific incompatibility indicated here.
