Why won’t my Canon EOS T3 sync an off-camera flash through the side remote port?

I’m using a Canon EOS T3 with a Neewer NW-625 speedlight kit and FC-16 radio trigger. If the transmitter is mounted on the camera hot shoe, the off-camera flash fires in sync normally. But if I try connecting via a 3.5mm-to-6.35mm cable, the flash timing is off, and it won’t match an on-camera flash.
Am I missing a flash sync setting, or is the side port on the T3 not meant for flash triggering?

The issue is that the side jack on the Canon EOS T3 is a wired remote shutter-release input, not a flash sync output.
So while the FC-16 system can often be used for both flash triggering and remote shutter release, plugging into that camera port does not provide proper flash-sync timing. If the trigger is set for shutter-release use, it may also introduce delay, which would make the flash appear out of sync.
For correct flash sync on the T3, use the hot shoe to trigger the transmitter. If you want additional flashes, use radio receivers on those flashes or optical slave mode if the flashes support it.
In short: there’s no manual sync adjustment you need here—the cable is connected to the wrong type of port for flash sync.
