Why is there liquid on my Canon LP-E6NH battery terminals?

I have a Canon EOS R with the included LP-E6NH battery. After charging, I noticed a small amount of liquid on the battery terminals and wiped it off. Later, after using the battery in the camera for a few shots, I removed it and saw a little liquid again on the terminals. The camera seems to work, but I’m worried about possible damage or safety issues. What could cause this, and is it safe to keep using the battery?

There should be no liquid in a lithium battery... and if liquid does come in contact with lithium things can go very bad very quickly.
I would put that battery inside a metal container and get it replaced; based on your description I would consider it hazardous and a fire risk.
