Why is there a black spot in the middle of my action camera footage and screen?

A 3-week-old AKASO Brave 4 has developed a noticeable black blob near the center of the image/display. Wiping the front lens does not remove it. With stabilization off, the spot stays fixed; with stabilization on while recording, it appears to move around. Could this be sensor damage, dust, or something caused by filming outdoors in hot, humid sunlight (around 35°C)?

Nothing you did could have caused this.
It's moving when stabilization is enabled because stabilization moves the image frame on the sensor (it's digital, it crops image dynamically). If stabilization was done by lens or sensor shift the blob wouldn't have moved.

This is definitely debris stuck on the sensor which got there during assembly. If you cannot gently shake it off you will need to ask the seller to fix it (either by servicing it or replacing it).

P.S.: I've never seen images from sensor damaged by heat but for it to happen the sun should necessarily be in that position on the image (you are better to judge it but the sun is unlikely to be in that place on the image). Plus the lens being slow and short (image of the sun won't be too bright and won't be too large) further reduces probability of the damage. And finally you can try checking out the manual which might address whether having sun in the image is fine.

This is most likely debris on or near the sensor, not something you caused by normal outdoor use.

The clue is stabilization: with digital stabilization, the camera shifts/crops the recorded frame electronically, so a fixed speck on the sensor appears to move relative to the image. If the spot stays fixed when stabilization is off, that strongly points to internal debris rather than dirt on the outside of the lens.

Heat damage is unlikely here. For sun/heat to damage a sensor, the sun would typically need to be focused in that exact part of the image, and action cameras’ short, relatively slow lenses make that less likely.

Since wiping the front element does nothing, this is probably inside the camera and not user-serviceable. The practical solution is warranty service, repair, or replacement through the seller/manufacturer. You can try gently shaking the camera, but if the speck doesn’t move or disappear, it needs service.
