Why is Lightroom importing RAW photos with non-zero default settings?

When I import photos into Lightroom, some adjustment sliders are already set away from zero. Double-clicking those sliders does not reset them to zero like I expect. I don’t remember changing any Lightroom setting to cause this. I also tried resetting Lightroom, but that didn’t fix it. Could this be caused by a preset or by the RAW files themselves?

To get back to the default, check the lightroom preset preference settings and make sure they look like this with Adobe Default set as master and nothing else active.
