Why does my Canon Pixma Pro-100 show a paper size error with 11×17 paper?

My Canon Pixma Pro-100 gives an 11-blink paper size error when I try to print. I loaded 11×17 inch paper in the top tray, but in the print settings I selected A3 from macOS Preview and saw the same issue from Photoshop. The paper fits only one obvious way in the tray, so I wasn’t sure if I was loading it wrong. What paper size should I choose for 11×17 paper on this printer?

A3 paper is 11.69 x 16.53 inches. When you select A3 with 11x17 paper in it the printer is detecting the width of the paper and telling you that it is not the size you have indicated.
If you are using 11x17 inch paper, you need to select 11x17 inches as your paper size.

Generated from our catalog & community — verify before relying on it.
The issue is that A3 and 11×17 are not the same paper size. A3 measures 11.69 × 16.53 inches, while 11×17 paper is exactly 11 × 17 inches. If the printer is set to A3 but detects 11×17 paper, it can report a paper size mismatch.
Set the print job to 11×17 (sometimes called tabloid) instead of A3. If that size is not listed, create or select a custom paper size set to 11 × 17 inches in your print settings, then print from the correct tray.
So the fix is not the paper orientation—it’s matching the driver/app paper size to the actual paper loaded.
