I'm using a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM on a Canon EOS R with the Canon EF-EOS R adapter. My images show two noticeable circular artifacts, and I can also see them while shooting. I checked sample images from similar setups and didn't see this issue. What is likely causing these circles, and is there a camera setting that fixes it?

Turn off Peripheral Illumination Correction in the lens correction section of your camera's menu. This has been a known issue with several Sigma lenses when used on newer Canon bodies for a long time.

A likely cause is Canon’s Peripheral Illumination Correction being enabled in the camera menu. This is a known compatibility issue with some Sigma lenses on newer Canon bodies, where the correction can produce visible circular artifacts. Try turning off Peripheral Illumination Correction in the lens correction settings and test again. If the circles disappear, that confirms the cause.
