Why are all side panels collapsed in darktable lighttable view?

In darktable, my lighttable view has recently started opening with all side panels collapsed by default. I usually want the sidebars visible, and I can’t find a setting that controls this for lighttable. The darkroom view still shows its sidebars normally. I’m using Debian 9 and darktable 2.2.1. What causes this, and how can I restore the normal layout?

It sounds like you accidentally hit the [TAB] button on your keyboard. Hitting it again should toggle it back.

You likely toggled the panel visibility by pressing Tab. In darktable, Tab hides or shows the side panels, so if lighttable suddenly opens with everything collapsed, press Tab again to restore the normal layout.
