Who can service a vintage Rollei medium-format camera properly?

I have an older Rollei medium-format film camera that means a lot to me, and after a shutter lock-up I’d prefer to send it to a specialist rather than use a general local repair shop. I was told these cameras need someone experienced who will service them properly, especially if they’ve been repaired incorrectly before.

Has anyone had good results sending a vintage camera—especially a Rollei—to a dedicated repair specialist? I’m looking for a reputable shop or technician known for careful CLA/repair work on Rolleis.

I had a Leica M3 done last year, the shutter speeds were off, it had shutter-bounce issues and was dry as a bone. It came back smooth as butter and good for another ten years methinks. I used Will van Manen, http://www.kamera-service.info , they are a small Dutch outfit and they do handle Rolleis. The price for the Leica CLA was quite reasonable, two hundred something Euros, and turnaround was quick.

Yes—sending a vintage Rollei to a specialist is a sensible approach, especially if it may have had poor prior repair work. From the community recommendation here, Will van Manen / Kamera Service in the Netherlands is one repair option worth considering, and they reportedly handle Rolleis. The shared experience was positive: a Leica M3 returned working smoothly after shutter-related service, with quick turnaround and reasonable cost for a CLA.

More generally, for older mechanical film cameras, a technician who regularly works on classic Rolleis is usually preferable to a general camera repair shop. A proper CLA and repair by an experienced specialist can make a big difference in reliability and longevity.
