I’m shooting an ocean landscape around sunrise, just after dawn, and I’d like the water to look clearer in the final image. What type of filter should I use?

A circular polariser filter will reduce reflections from the surface of the water, making it appear clear.
Here a good example of this:

A circular polarizer is the main filter to try. It reduces reflections from the water’s surface, which can make the water appear clearer and let you see more beneath the surface in the photo. This is especially useful for ocean and shoreline scenes when glare is hiding detail. Rotate the polarizer while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen to find the strongest effect.
