I have a Leitz Prado 66 slide projector with an oval power inlet containing two round pins spaced fairly far apart. What type of replacement power cord/connector does it use, and what should I search for to find one?

It looks like a German DIN 49491 connector, see http://www.kalthoff-elektro.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=141&Itemid=329 and https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ger%C3%A4testecker#.E2.80.9EWaffeleisenstecker.E2.80.9C. They are due to their main use case also known as “Waffeleisenstecker”, “Bügeleisenstecker” or “Heißgerätestecker”. With the last term, you will find many offers on German eBay, even new connectors are sold there. Unfortunately I was not able to locate some on ebay.com, since I do not know a suitable English search term.

Generated from our catalog & community — verify before relying on it.
Your projector appears to use a German DIN 49491 two-pin appliance connector. This style is commonly nicknamed a “Waffeleisenstecker,” “Bügeleisenstecker,” or “Heißgerätestecker” in German, so those search terms may help when looking for a replacement cord or plug.
Because this is an older European appliance connector, availability may be better from German or European sellers than from general US marketplaces. If you can’t find a complete cord, replacement connectors may also be sold separately.
Before powering the projector, make sure the cord matches the projector’s voltage requirements and is wired safely for your local mains standard. If you are unsure, have an electronics technician verify compatibility rather than forcing a similar-looking plug.
