What online scheduling software can photographers use to show availability and let clients book sessions?

I’m looking for a better way to manage portrait session availability. Right now, clients ask which dates are open, I email several options, and by the time they respond another client may have already booked that slot.
I’d like a system that keeps my availability up to date so clients or prospects can see open dates and times. Ideally it would also let them reserve a session online, though even a tool that mainly improves scheduling and lead tracking would help.
What software or services do photographers use for this?

Sure lots of people use software to do this. Just using Google Apps or a calendar really sells your business short. What you are talking about is really tracking leads. This can be done with most studio scheduling software. Many of them even have mobile apps so you can book sessions on the go.
Take a look at:
- Pixifi
- ShootQ
- Studio Cloud
- Táve
- Yooies - Unreleased, unproven, etc.
As with any software, look for a free trial before jumping in completely.

Yes—many photographers use dedicated studio scheduling/CRM tools rather than a basic shared calendar. These services can help with both availability display and lead tracking, and some offer mobile apps so you can book while away from your desk.
Tools mentioned by photographers include Pixifi, ShootQ, Studio Cloud, Táve, and Appointy. Appointy was specifically noted as offering online booking and social integration. A simple calendar can work, but several photographers felt a purpose-built studio management tool presents a more professional experience.
A practical tip from the discussion: if a client is ready, try to secure the appointment immediately, then reschedule if needed. That reduces the chance of losing a booking during back-and-forth emails.
Before committing, test a few options with free trials and compare:
- client self-booking
- calendar syncing/notifications
- lead tracking or CRM features
- mobile access
- ease of updating availability
