In the example image, the closest server cabinets appear curved and stretched near the edges. What is this type of distortion called, and how can I achieve a similar look in my own photos or in editing?

This effect is called fisheye effect

You can either get this effect by using a fisheye lens or using photoshop. Try googling fisheye effect photoshop. I found there great tutorials there.

That look is commonly called a fisheye effect. It’s an extreme wide-angle distortion that bends straight lines, especially near the edges of the frame.

You can create it in two main ways:

  1. Use a fisheye lens: This produces the effect optically in-camera.
  2. Apply it in editing software: Many photo editors can simulate fisheye-style barrel distortion after the shot.

If you want the most natural version of the effect, a real fisheye lens is the usual choice. If you just want the look occasionally, editing is a practical alternative.
