What causes long streak marks on developed 35mm film after tank processing?

I’ve been developing my own 35mm film in a Paterson tank for about a month and haven’t seen this before. I used about 300 ml of chemistry, agitated as usual, washed for 10 minutes, and used Ilfotol/Ilfosol as a final wetting agent rinse. The developed film has long streak-like marks running along the length of the film. Could this be from loading the film badly onto the reel, or not having the reel seated properly in the tank? What are the most likely causes, and is there anything obvious I should try to fix it?

I think the artifacts are too vivid to be residue from the rinse agent. If re-washing and re-rinse agent did the trick then OK. If not - re-fix twice normal fix time and wash and rinse. I think the film is properly fixed. If I am right, then this will do the trick.

Long streaks running along the length of 35mm film are most often caused during the final rinse/drying stage, not by the reel height in the tank. The most likely cause is too much wetting agent in the final rinse, which can dry as residue and leave flow marks.

First try a simple fix: rewash the film, then do a final rinse with the correct wetting-agent dilution and hang it to dry again.

If the marks remain, one answer suggests re-fixing for about twice the normal fixing time, then washing and doing the final rinse again. That said, fixer problems usually don’t produce smooth flow-like streaks.

Poor loading on the reel can cause development problems too, but it more often creates uneven patches or undeveloped bands where the film touched or overlapped, rather than long drying streaks.

So the most obvious thing to try is a careful rewash and correctly mixed final rinse. Also make sure the film hangs cleanly to dry and that your wetting agent is measured accurately.
