Should I buy a Canon TS-E 24mm if my studio already has a Hasselblad H4D tilt-shift adapter?

Our studio has a Hasselblad H4D with several lenses and a tilt-shift adapter. I also shoot a Canon 5D Mark III and am considering buying a Canon TS-E 24mm.

Is it still worth getting the Canon tilt-shift lens if we already have tilt/shift capability on the Hasselblad system?

My concerns are portability and speed of setup with the 5D III, and whether the Hasselblad adapter is only practical if we already have compatible lenses with a large enough image circle. How should I think about this choice?

Which H4D is it? There are different models with different sensor sizes. If you will use the TS-E adapter you will also need an appropriate lens with sufficient image circle to cover the sensor. Do you have that? I didn't see any mention about this, specifically.

If you don't have the appropriate lens, I'd get the Canon 24. Some people would suggest the 17 instead.

On the other hand, you mentioned lenses, plural. If several are suitable for use with the adapter, then you have more flexibility with the Hassy.

It depends mostly on the Hasselblad setup, not just the adapter itself.

A tilt-shift adapter is only useful if you also have lenses that can work with it and provide enough image circle for the H4D sensor. Since H4D models use different sensor sizes, compatibility and usable movements can vary. If you don’t already have suitable lenses, the Canon TS-E 24mm makes more sense.

If your studio does have multiple compatible Hasselblad lenses for the adapter, the H4D setup may offer more flexibility overall. But for practical shooting, the 5D Mark III plus a dedicated TS-E lens is likely easier to carry, faster to set up, and simpler to use in the field.

So the key question is: do you already own suitable Hasselblad lenses for that adapter? If not, buy the Canon TS-E 24mm. If yes, the Hasselblad option may cover your needs, especially in studio work.
