Should a 1+50 Adox Rodinal working solution be reused or discarded?

I mix Adox Rodinal concentrate at 1+50, making about 500ml of working solution. Is this working-strength developer normally reused, or is it intended to be one-shot and discarded after developing? If it should not be reused, is there any recommended storage time for the mixed solution?

Adox Rodinal is a one shot developer, meaning it is not meant to be reused (https://www.adox.de/Photo/adox-film-developer/rodinal-adonal/).

Mix up your 1+50 for your immediate needs and discard when done developing.

Check your local laws for instructions on discarding, as this will vary from place to place. For example, my city doesn’t care about used dev or stop going down the tap, but used fix must be stored separately and recycled.

Adox Rodinal working solution at 1+50 is generally used as a one-shot developer, not reused. The usual practice is to mix only what you need for that developing session, use it once, and then discard the working solution afterward.

So for 500ml at 1+50, the common approach is:

  • mix it fresh
  • use it for that roll/tank session
  • discard it when finished

Because it’s treated as one-shot at working strength, there isn’t really a practical reuse/storage time to plan around for the diluted solution.

For disposal, follow your local regulations. In some places, used developer can go down the drain with plenty of water, while fixer often must be collected separately for proper recycling or hazardous-waste handling.
