Nikon D7000 sometimes won't save or review photos and reports no memory card detected

My Nikon D7000 has started behaving unpredictably. After taking a few shots, sometimes the latest images don't appear on the LCD, and even earlier photos I already reviewed won't display. Other times the shutter release stops working and the camera says no memory card is detected. The only temporary fix is to turn the camera off, remove and reinsert the memory card, and restart. I've already tried different 32GB SanDisk cards and genuine Nikon batteries, but the problem keeps returning. Is there a camera setting that could cause this, and what should I try first?

This problem might be caused by some sort of setting change that you might not realize you changed. Try resetting your camera to factory settings.

A good first step is to reset the camera to its factory/default settings. A changed setting can sometimes cause odd behavior that looks like a card or playback problem, and a full reset is a simple way to rule that out before assuming hardware failure.
Since you've already tried different memory cards and batteries, resetting the D7000 is the most practical next troubleshooting step based on the information given. If the issue continues after a reset, that would point more toward a hardware fault and the camera should be checked before using it for important paid work.
